Celebrating 70 years

IUCN - 70 years

IUCN is celebrating its 70th anniversary in 2018 and, with growing momentum to meet ambitious global goals, the wind toward sustainable development is finally at our backs. But there is no time to lose. Species are going extinct at alarming rates. Climate change is threatening communities, economies and the ecosystems on which they depend.

No one government or organisation can correct humanity’s course alone. With 70 years of experience, vision and impact, the world needs IUCN’s diverse and powerful Union more than ever.

Terre Sauvage Special Edition – IUCN 70th Anniversary

IUCN and the Terre Sauvage Magazine editorial team collaborated to create a special edition commemorating the Union’s 70th Anniversary by featuring some of its flagship projects and partnerships around the world. Terre Sauvage distributed the issue, titled Plaidoyer pour la Nature – Union international pour la conservation de la nature: 70 ans d’actions et d’engagements, to its subscribers and on newsstands throughout France and in other French-speaking countries in June 2018.

The impact of IUCN resolutions on international conservation efforts : an overviewThe impact of IUCN resolutions on international conservation efforts : an overview

This paper briefly highlights some of the major impacts and influences that IUCN Resolutions have had on conservation. It is not meant to be comprehensive, but rather to focus attention on some of the most significant issues that the IUCN Membership has addressed, working together with IUCN’s six Commissions (on Species, Protected Areas, Environmental Law, Ecosystem Management, Communications and Education, and Environmental, Economic and Social Policy) and supported by IUCN’s Secretariat.
