The IUCN Headquarters' Library is a unique repository of the publications, periodicals, unpublished reports and multimedia produced by IUCN, including its regional and country offices and its Commissions, from 1946 to the present. It also contains a select number of publications from related and Member organizations. The Library's collection includes the historical collection of the Office international pour la protection de la nature (1928-1955); it also inherited the collection of WWF (1960-1991).
Additionally, the IUCN HQ Library serves as the main research library for IUCN Secretariat staff, holding over 16,000 non-IUCN titles (including journals and newsletters) on biodiversity, ecosystem management, protected areas, sustainable development and more.
